Hongxi is robbed and injured while taking a shortcut through a deserted lane. Knowing Ruoting had asked her to take that shortcut, Lantian suspects Xuewei is up to something. A prison mate shows Zhongzheng the newspaper cutting on the Hongxi robbery. He hints Zhongzheng should hand over the safe deposit box key and password. Zhongzheng demands to see Xuewei. Xuewei visits Zhongzheng at the prison. Zhongzheng agrees to his demands, on condition he will not harm Hongxi. He also promises to never reveal anything about the syndicate as long as he lives. When Zhongzheng is about to disclose the password and the location of the safe deposit box key, he experiences a sudden excruciating pain.
